Michael Gurven is a professor of anthropology at UC Santa Barbara. His research examines human life history, cooperation and health using evolutionary and biodemographic approaches. He co-directs the Tsimane Health and Life History Project, studying how environment and lifestyle affect health and lifespan in subsistence populations.
