WHOOP enters $34.5m ARPA-H-backed bid to quantify aging

WHOOP joined an ARPA-H-backed $34.5 million coalition led by Dr Michael Snyder to develop an FDA-grade Intrinsic Capacity (IC) score that predicts major health outcomes up to 20 years. The effort will combine wearable data, blood biomarkers, functional assessments and decentralized trials with partners including the Buck Institute, Methuselah Foundation, YMCA and OpenCures to validate a PROSPR IC model; success could create an FDA-accepted surrogate endpoint to shorten trials and attract investment, while raising data stewardship and oversimplification concerns.
Why it mattersARPA-H's $34.5M effort aims for an FDA-grade IC score; funders can expect shorter, lower-risk clinical trials.
