Sustainable development of novel zinc oxide nano flowers mediated red yeast rice for control of hepatocellular carcinoma

Researchers report green-synthesized zinc oxide 'nanoflowers' using red yeast rice extract. The biosynthesized ZnO nanoparticles were smaller (≈22 nm) and showed greater cytotoxicity against Hep-G2 hepatocellular carcinoma cells (IC50 17.35 µg/mL) than chemically produced ZnO, with molecular docking supporting target interactions.
Why it mattersIC50 17.35 µg/mL in Hep-G2 cells indicates improved in vitro anticancer potency, informing preclinical prioritization for nanomedicine development.
