Study finds vegetarians over 80 less likely to reach 100

A nested case-control study of Chinese adults aged 80+ found vegetarian diets were associated with slightly lower odds of reaching 100, driven mainly by frail, underweight seniors. Older adults who ate fish, eggs, or dairy had similar centenarian odds as meat eaters, suggesting late-life protein and muscle maintenance matters more than long-term disease prevention.
