Microbially produced bile acids are associated with increased IgG autoantibodies and poorer mental wellbeing in fibromyalgia

In 35 fibromyalgia patients versus 32 matched controls, non-conjugated secondary bile acids were elevated in patients. Specific bile-acid concentrations correlated with higher anti-SGC IgG levels and poorer mental wellbeing, linking microbiota-derived bile acids to autoantibody presence and psychological symptoms in fibromyalgia.
Why it mattersStratify fibromyalgia trials by anti-SGC IgG and secondary bile-acid levels to improve patient selection.
