Knocking out OsPht1;9-1;10 genes decreases arsenic accumulation in rice (Oryza sativa) grains

Gene-editing knockout of rice phosphate transporters OsPht1;9 and OsPht1;10 reduces arsenic uptake and grain accumulation. Multi-year field trials reported 19.2–47.3% lower grain arsenic without yield loss, offering targets for low-arsenic cultivar development.
Why it mattersOsPht1;9/1;10 knockout cut grain As up to 47.3% in field trials.
