Hepatitis B vaccine rates are dropping

A JAMA study using Epic electronic health records found newborn hepatitis B vaccination rates rose from 67.5% in 2017 to 83.5% in February 2023, then fell to 73.2% by August 2025. Authors note the decline coincided with heightened public vaccine discourse and the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommending delayed newborn Hep B vaccination.
